Dr. Heidi Limbrunner

About Me

I am a board-certified clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in the Charlotte area. I provide both therapy and comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations. I especially enjoy working with teenagers and young adults and helping families better understand the challenges their child may be experiencing and the strategies and supports that can help them be successful.

My therapy practice focuses primarily on children, adolescents and young adults experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, self-harm, perfectionism, body image and eating concerns, and other emotional or behavioral challenges. I have extensive experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family-Based Treatment (FBT). My approach to therapy is warm, directive, and interactive, and I believe in involving parents and families when appropriate.

In addition to therapy, I specialize in comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults. I frequently work with families seeking to better understand concerns related to ADHD, executive functioning, learning disorders and dyslexia, academic difficulties, and emotional functioning. My goal is to help families understand not only whether a diagnosis is appropriate, but also how a child or adolescent learns, why they may be struggling, and what strategies and supports may help them be successful at school and at home.

I also have extensive experience in the treatment of eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, and ARFID. Earlier in my career, I served as Director of the Center for Eating Disorders at Levine Children's Hospital and have presented professionally in the area of eating disorders. I continue to work with adolescents, young adults, and families affected by eating disorders and utilize Family-Based Treatment when appropriate.
